<lj:music>Little Miss Obsessive - Ashlee Simpson</lj:music>

I need to take a break from doing the Cobra remix (I think I'll actually be done tonight!) So I'm just going to take about random stuff that is making me happy. (Warning: this is the clue to skip probably cause this post will just be totally pointless, so yeah.)

- I was watching "Attack of the Show" and the host quoted a review that described Juno as "Livejournal in movie form." It was quite amusing.

- Listen to Mr. Jepsen (Jenni and Katherine can agree with me that this has to be Jepsen's new favorite thing, jeez...) and go to www.ted.com It has awesome little videos talking about pretty much everything. It totally rocks.

- Ashlee Simpson's new song. Damn my fondness for pop music, I can't help it. The 90's burned into me. http://themob.1035kissfm.com/drex/blog/2008/02/21/drexclusive____new_ashlee_simpson

- Happy Birthday to Chuck Palahniuk. This guy has to be insane, and he totally doesn't look like he writes the stuff he does. http://www.randomhouse.com.au/authordatabase/Palahniuk,%20Chuck.jpg
I am learning that "Invisible Monsters" is child's play compared to his other stuff (still kicks ass, but, seriously? "Choke" just got way more crazy than I thought it would). At least you don't need a flow chart to keep track of "Choke".

- There's a toy model for the monster in "Cloverfield" and it looks totally awesome (except for the part where it costs $100, but whatever).

Okay, I feel much better now. *runs back to Audacity*

<lj:music>Nothing Is Ever What It Seems - Midtown</lj:music>

So, there is a scholarship where you tell a funny story from high school and use lots and lots of SAT words in said story. So, I don't know what the story should be on, so someone jog my memory of funny times on which I can write a 1,500 word essay for $500.

:-D

p.s. There is a possibility I will write the story on the Deep Throat story cause it is a) funny and b) would work with SAT words. So I might end up like that girl in the cell phone commercial that does the exact opposite of what her boyfriends suggests. My apologies if this happens.

    <lj:music>Honey - The Hush Sound</lj:music>

Pretty much the best concert I've ever gone to in my entire life.

Venue - Beautiful. Imagine a large-ish dance floor with elevated booths and seats on the side and a bar in back. The ceiling had white Christmas lights all along the top with disco balls hanging down. Pretty much, Varsity Theater kicks ass.

Show - Amazing. The Cab, We The Kings, and Metro Station were all awesome. Cobra was insane. I'm so sore, but it was totally worth it. They did a great job (even with technical difficulties) and were plain amazing. Barricade is the way to go kids. Water is also a life saver. Jumping and feeling warm air getting fanned on you is not a good combo. Girls need to learn to wear ponytails though.

Other - met Alex (the singer) and Ian from The Cab. Also got to meet Ryland. He is just a tid-bit taller than Jenni. 'Twas amusing to watch someone who was actually his height stand by him.

Sadly, I can't find the cable to load pictures, so...yeah. Seeing Gabe do the Soulja Boy dance will have to wait, I guess.

Alright, I am off to sleep. Somewhere between the Cities and Albany a horrible cold set in. Gross.

This is sad.
- Cool people are in lines. Always. *nods*
- Fun stories about Fall Out Boy are good.
- The Clan store is cool. From the outside.
- Box offices should be inside the arena, not across the street.
- Meet and greet is fun.
- Charlie is good at describing fights between Pete Wentz and the dude from June he beat up.
- "settled out of court"
- Patrick is a sweetheart. And not chubby at all. And adorable.
- Pete is not attentive.
- Not being able to find cameras right away is good at meet and greets.
- Chicago concerts kick ass.
- Acoustic is amazing.

Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest American authors. He was born on July

21st, 1899 in Cicero, Illinois. Hemingway had an older sister. Growing up,

Hemingway enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. In high school, Hemingway did

well athletically and academically although he did get a "D" in writing because

of poor penmanship. He wrote for the school newspaper and was the editor his

senior year. After high school, he started working for The Kansas City Star.

His writing style was greatly influenced by his time there even though he just

had to write about what happened at the police and fire station.

Soon after starting at the newspaper, Hemingway left to be an ambulance driver

for the American Red Cross during World War I. While working as an ambulance

driver in Italy, he was wounded while handing out candy and coffee; he was not

able to return to combat due to the injuries. Hemingway's time and experiences

in Italy greatly influenced one of his first novels, A Farewell to Arms. After

the war, Hemingway went to write for the Toronto Star. Hemingway was able to

travel abroad to Paris, France as a foreign correspondent for the newspaper.

While in Paris, he learned about writing and began to write short stories. After

coming back to the U.S., Hemingway resigned from the Toronto Star and published

his first short story.

Yeah, I'm now more than slightly concerned about the tour delay and stuff. The journal entry that was the song a band played before they broke up didn't really help matters....

If it was just because they had to practice, that would make sense. But 3 weeks? I don't know. It's a major tour, I just think it has to be something bigger than that. I think that by now they would know whether or not they could be ready for the tour with the amount of time they had.

If they just needed to rest, that would make more sense. But why wouldn't they just say it was exhaustion? Why say it was because of "personal problems"?

I just hope someone isn't leaving. I almost wouldn't be shocked if it was Patrick or something....

I just don't know....

Meh.

Yeah, the Honda Civic Tour got delayed by a couple of weeks. Now the show we're going to, May 16, is the 5th show on the tour. According to the website, the tour got delayed for personal reasons. Which is slightly concerning, I think, because that last time something got delayed or changed like this, it really, really wasn't good. So yeah.

Oh, and I just saw that the maker of some software we have is "McAfee" and I had a giggle. Hah.

Anyways, Blades of Glory today!!! YAY!!! It's going to be awesome.

The problem with that is that it's not exactly winter. It's April. It shouldn't be that white and pretty in the beginning of April. It just shouldn't. The April showers shouldn't be freezing on the way down to Earth and ending up as snow.

I was wearing flip-flops for the last week. And now I have to wear a winter coat again. 'Tis craziness!

Anyways, yeah.....but it does look pretty out though.

Random Minnesota weather...

Planes fly with food and Supplies into West Berlin for 462 days, straight.

May 12, 1949 – The Soviets lift the blockade.

May 24, 1949 – In West Germany, Federal Republic of Germany is founded.

September 30, 1949 – Berlin Airlift ends.

October 7, 1949 – East Germany founds the German Democratic Republic.

1950’s – The gap between West and East Germany continues to widen. While rebuilding booms in Western Germany, food and housing are scare in Eastern Germany. Citizens of East Germany begin “voting with their feet” – fleeing to the West.

May 26, 1952 – The border between East and West Germany is closed. The border between East and West Berlin is the only border that remains open.

November 14, 1953 – The Interzonepass is waived by the Western Powers, but the Soviet Union still requires permission to travel west.

1961 – Three million people have fled from East Germany to West Germany. Rumors of a closed border begin to spread.

August 11, 1961 – 4,000 East Germans flee to West Germany.

August 13, 1961, 2A.M. – The first generation of the Berlin Wall, a barbed-wire fence, is constructed between East and West Germany. Within the next few days, concrete blocks are cemented into a low wall throughout the city.

August 14, 1961 – The Brandenburg Gate is closed.

August 26, 1961 – For West Berliners, all crossing points are closed.

June 26, 1963 – President J.F. He was shot in his attempt, and East Berlin soldiers refused to allow anyone to come to his aid. Fechter was the wall’s fiftieth casualty and his death became a symbol for all those who died trying to cross.

December 17, 1963 – West Berliners may visit East Berlin for the first time in more than two years.

1964 – A group takes six months to build an underground tunnel, measuring 145 yards, under the Wall. Fifty-seven people from East Berlin are able to escape.

1960’s and 1970’s – Citizens of both Berlins vow to keep their city alive. Radio broadcasts create cracks in the “Iron Curtain”; the Wall is not working. Although the number of successful escapes drastically drops, East Berliners attempt to reach West Berlin.

1980’s – Communism is bankrupt. Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev begins to introduce the glasnost (openness) and perestroika (democratic reform) policies.

June 12, 1987 – During a visit to Berlin, President Ronald Regan urges Gorbachev to “tear down this wall down.”

September 10, 1989 – Hungary opens its border with Austria. This provides a route for East Germans to escape.

November 9, 1989 – East Germany opens its borders, and 10,000 East Germans cross the border.
The first team for the JV KB meet got first!!! Yay!!!

It was close all day, and we were able to jump up a couple spots after the last round and tie with Apollo for first. We had to go to a sudden death round, where the winner would be the first to get a majority of 15 questions or be in the lead when the round ended. At the 15th question, us and Apollo were tied and we got it right!

My goodness that was stressful...

Anyways, it was cool. And the Dairy Queen was good afterwards. :-D
